Ray's Books

Ray is the author of the following books on NMR and its applications:

A Handbook of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance A Handbook of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
This book works on the premise that it is possible to describe the fundamental concepts underpinning NMR in simple, pictorial, non-mathematical terms. The book is divided in 59 short, self-contained entries arranged alphabetically. In a certain sense it is a glossary or lexicon, treating the topics most likely to raise questions from the newcomer to NMR.
Longman, 1987
ISBN 0-582-00390-3

A Handbook of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, 2nd Edition
This second edition of the "Handbook of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance" radically revises more than half of the original entries, particularly those that touch on multidimensional spectroscopy. Five new sections have been added on topics that have recently come into prominence - bilinear rotation decoupling, coherence, correlation spectroscopy, measurement of coupling constants, and nuclear susceptibility.
Addison Wesley Longman, 1997
ISBN 0-582-25184-2

Spin Choreography. Basic Steps in High Resolution NMR Spin Choreography. Basic Steps in High Resolution NMR
This book describes how nuclear spins can be manipulated in complex ways to extract molecular structural information. In essence the spectroscopist programs the spins to perform an intricate dance, based on the rules that govern the motion of nuclear magnetization vectors. The book starts with three chapters that outline these fundamental rules - energy levels, the vector model and the product operator formalism.
Spectrum Academic Publishers, 1997

Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry and Medicine Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry and Medicine
This book draws together the two principal applications of magnetic resonance - NMR for structural and analytical studies in chemistry, and MRI for investigation of the internal physiology of the human body, including that of the brain. Translated into Russian in 2009.
Oxford University Press, 2003
